Rats!!

I have a rat problem. In fact, I think most of our neighborhood is having that same problem. We are close to the city centre, and there is currently a huge rat infestation there. I assume we are getting some spillover.

Problem is… I have a very inquisitive dog that just absolutely has to taste everything. That includes poisoned rats as well. And then her hair falls out. And it is never nice. And I’m not doing the poisoning thing again.

So, what to do about the rats then?

Enter Google and some time on the interwebs. Found a nice little diy rattrap on YouTube. Have a look at it here.

So today was “build your own rat trap” day, amongst other things.

Baited it with Peanut Butter.

Let’s see.

Like a Kid before a holiday

 Just a quick note. Had to share. I have a rare day off on Friday.

 Sometimes not so easy to remember…

You are not your job.

You can have pride in your job, yes.

You can enjoy your job, yes.

But when you mess up, or hate what you do, you need to remember that your job does not define you. You are the person you are.

Cars on the Roof - Kollonade Retail Park

Yesterday was a "Cars on the Roof" park and show. I think it was arranged by Pretoria old motor club, but not too sure of that statement.

Anywhere, there was, amongst others, a Datsun ZX280. When I was but a strapping young lad I had a Matchbox Car. A very yellow Datsun ZX280. My first remote control car was, you guessed it, a red Datsun ZX280. I absolutely love that car. Not sure why, but I love it to bits.

And then, of course, there was this little beauty;

In my humble opinion still the most beautiful car ever made. I must however confess that I prefer this model in the hard-top derivative and not so much the cabriolet. I will however not say no if offered one of these beauties.

There was also an array of Beetles from the South African chapter of the Aircooled Hooligans as well as a choice assortment of Yank Tanks and modded oldtimers.

I have to say the orange MK1 Cortina is a fine specimen indeed.

Rosemary Hill Trail Run

And back we go to training. On Sunday I took part in the Rosemary Hill trail run. It is getting a little cold now in the mornings. You would think that winter is on the way...

Luckily there was a fire to ward off the worst of the cold.

I have to say, this one went well. I think my fitness level is better now, and the Easter break also did wonders. Managed a respectable 1:05:09, which is not too shabby if you take into consideration that this was a proper trail run and the going was interesting at times.
